HEAD CROSS COUNTRY COACH
Cross Country is a popular competitive team sport with a history of success at Waterford High School.
During a cross country competition, a team of at least five runners will race together against other teams. In high school, races are usually around three miles long, and take place over a variety of terrains. The top five runners to cross the finish line are scored, and their finishing places are totaled to see which team wins.
Cross country is an appealing sport for athletes on a variety of levels. It is a great option for novices, as generally athletes are not cut as long as they meet athletic qualifications and demonstrate commitment. For athletes who compete in winter or spring sports, participating in cross country is a great way to stay in shape during the off season. For athletes who wish to run more competitively, cross country still has the ability to open a lot of doors for college and scholarship opportunities, and Waterford High School has a history of recent titles that demonstrates the success of the program.
