Students/Parents
Foothill Horizons Outdoor School inspires connection to nature and each other. Parents say that their child returns home more mature, and excited to learn about science and nature. During their stay, Foothill Horizons' goals are for children to grow personally and socially, learn about science, and connect to nature in a safe, nurturing environment. Foothill Horizons is owned and operated by Stanislaus County Office of Education and has been teaching students for over 60 years.
Students are supervised at all times by teachers, naturalists, and camp counselors. While present, students sleep in a heated dormitory building, separated by sex. Meals are cooked onsite and served family style. Foothill Horizons has experience with many food allergies and special dietary needs.
During their 5 day program, students will also visit Calaveras Big Trees to see the giant Sequoias, and the Moaning Caverns.
