Principal's Message, 2024-25

Dear Parent/Guardian(s) and Student:

On behalf of the staff and administration of Sentinel High School and the Waterford Unified School District Board of Trustees, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2024-25 school year.  The year ahead is full of wonderful opportunities for you and your student to build a new path towards graduation.   Sentinel High is an alternative high school that provides students the opportunity to recover credits to complete their graduation requirements as well as additional support to help your student overcome their respective behavioral, attendance and/or academic challenges.  At Sentinel High, we strive to support each student to find their potential and set a path for success.

This year we will be having a parent/student orientation on Wednesday, August 6th at 6 pm.  The orientation will be held outside on the campus under the tent.  At orientation we will be going over expectations and goals for the year, dress and parking expectations, distributing schedules, giving out chromebooks(if new) and collecting the annual paperwork. If you are planning to purchase chromebook insurance, please remember to bring cash or money order for $25.00. A big focus for the parent meeting will be our policy of Phone Free Classrooms using the Yondr program and how that will look for students and their learning.  Staff will be here to help with any questions about how to update Infinite Campus and student information.  If you are unable to attend, please call the school and set up an appointment for an individual or phone meeting at your convenience at 209.874.9017.

Lastly, at the parent meeting we will be asking for guardians and parents who are interested in engaging with the school by joining our School Site Council and/or our English Learner Advisory Committee and accepting nominations for both.  If you are interested please return the enclosed form at the parent meeting in person or send with your student to school the first week with the other forms.

I can't say enough about how excited we are to have everyone join us for the 2024-25 school year.  An exciting adventure awaits all of us!

Sincerely,

Tonya L. Bibbins, Principal
