Waterford High School Moves to Digital-Only Ticketing for Athletic Events
Purchase Your Tickets HERE
Beginning Fall 2025, Waterford High School will transition to a digital-only ticketing system for all home athletic events, using the GoFan platform. This means cash will no longer be accepted at the gate, and all tickets must be purchased online in advance or at the gate using a mobile device.
This change is not new to WHS athletics—GoFan has already been required by our league for playoff and foundation games for several years, and it is also used for many away games where the hosting school has moved to digital-only ticketing. Most leagues in California have already adopted this system for all athletic events, and WHS is now aligning with this standard.
By establishing one consistent ticketing process, we reduce confusion for fans, strengthen fiscal oversight, and improve safety by removing the risks associated with cash handling. The digital system also allows families to pre-purchase tickets, skip the lines, and ensures secure and accurate accounting of athletic funds.
To ease the transition, WHS is reducing ticket prices to offset the GoFan system’s standard processing fee, so fans will not pay more than the cash price. We will continue to cover this cost for as long as our athletic budget can support it, with the understanding that our first responsibility is to cover essential expenses, such as referee fees.
We appreciate our community’s continued support of our student-athletes and thank you for helping us move forward with this change.
FAQ's
Q: Why is WHS switching to GoFan for all athletic events?
GoFan has been the league-mandated system for playoff and foundation games for several years, and many of our league schools already use it exclusively. Some away games have already required our fans to purchase through GoFan because the hosting school uses the system for all events. Moving to one system for every home game reduces confusion, ensures consistency, and brings WHS in line with league-wide best practices. Additionally, almost every other league in California outside SAL already requires ALL tickets to be sold through Go Fan. This will like.
Q: Is there an extra cost for fans?
No. While GoFan has a standard processing fee, WHS is reducing ticket prices so that the total you pay is the same as before. The school will absorb the fee for as long as our budget allows, but this could change in the future if we are unable to cover necessary athletic expenses like referee costs.
Q: Why not keep cash as an option?
Digital-only ticketing improves safety by removing the risks associated with handling cash and strengthens fiscal oversight. It also provides a more efficient and accurate way to manage funds, ensuring that every dollar directly benefits our student-athletes.
Q: Can I still buy tickets at the gate?
Yes. You can purchase tickets at the gate using your mobile device. We recommend buying in advance to avoid delays, but QR codes and links will be available on site.
Q: What about away games?
The home school controls ticketing for their events. When WHS is the visitor, ticket prices and any additional fees are determined by the hosting school. In many cases, other schools in our league also use GoFan exclusively, so you may encounter similar digital-only ticketing requirements for away games.
Q: How will this help students?
Every decision in our athletics program is made with student benefit in mind. Digital ticketing ensures financial transparency, reduces the possibility of mismanagement, improves safety for staff and volunteers, and allows us to focus resources on providing the best possible experiences for our student-athletes.
