late start coming soon

WUSD Parents/Guardians and Students,

Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Waterford Junior High School and Waterford High School will adopt a weekly Late Start schedule. On these days, classes will begin one hour later to allow time for staff collaboration and planning.

To preserve instructional minutes, the school day will be extended by 15 minutes. At Waterford High School, the day will end at 2:52 p.m. At Waterford Junior High, the school day will begin 15 minutes earlier—starting at 8:00 a.m.—to align with the high school schedule. This adjustment allows teachers dedicated time to review student data, collaborate with colleagues, and plan instruction tailored to student needs. By creating space for professional reflection and coordination, our staff can better identify learning gaps, implement targeted interventions, and design engaging lessons that support every student’s academic growth.

There are no changes to bus transportation; all buses will continue to run on the same schedule every day, including Late Start days. Campus will remain open at the usual time, and students who arrive early will be welcomed on campus. Breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m., and supervision staff will be present to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

We’re committed to keeping families informed and ensuring this transition is smooth and beneficial for our students. Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please reach out to info@waterford.k12.ca.us.

Sincerely,

Amanda Wilson
