Every Child Matters: Building Healthy Relationships
Love Waterford’s Love All Our Kids Program, in partnership with Waterford Unified School District, invites families to an evening of learning, conversation, connection, and service focused on helping young people build healthy, safe relationships.
The people influencing our children aren’t limited to those they see at school, at home, or in the community. Through social media, gaming, messaging, and other online spaces, young people are forming connections with people they may never meet face-to-face. How do we help them understand who is safe to trust, what a healthy relationship should look and feel like, and when someone’s words, behaviors, or requests should be a warning sign?
A panel of local professionals, moderated with the help of WHS students, will explore the many relationships young people experience—from friendships and dating relationships to family, trusted adults, and online connections. The conversation will cover boundaries, respect, trust, communication, manipulation, controlling behaviors, online safety, and warning signs of unhealthy relationships.
Most importantly, families will gain practical tools for having these conversations before a problem occurs and helping young people establish strong boundaries, trust their instincts, and know when and how to ask for help.
Following the panel and an interactive Q&A, families will turn conversation into action by helping pack 100 Bags of Compassion for Without Permission.
