Last week ended in great spirits as we completed Mental Health Awareness week with a "Minions" dress-up day. It was great seeing all of our Minions participating in the last PBIS Lunchtime Activity of the year hosted by our English department.

Feeling stressed, frustrated, or just overwhelmed? One of the simplest tricks to help you feel better is something you’re already doing — breathing! 🌬️
But not just any breathing… we're talking deep, intentional breaths. Here's why they're awesome:
Calms Your Brain – Deep breaths help your brain chill out when you’re anxious or upset.
Boosts Focus – Struggling to pay attention? Breathing deeply can help you concentrate.
Sleep Better – Feeling restless? Slow, deep breaths before bed can help you fall asleep faster.
Feel More in Control – It gives you a moment to pause and reset.
Next time you’re stressed or annoyed, stop and try this:
Breathe in for 4 seconds… Hold for 4… Breathe out for 4. Do that 3 times and see how you feel.
You’ve got this. Just breathe. 💙
Today's lunch activity for Mental Health Awareness Week: Cookie decorating!

Every day this week students have a dress up theme and a lunchtime activity for Mental Health Awareness Week.

This week, we're joining schools around the country to recognize Mental Health Awareness Week — a time to learn, reflect, and support one another.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. It's about how we think, feel, and handle life's ups and downs. This week, our students will take part in activities that promote kindness, self-care, and open conversations about emotions and mental wellness. Take a look at what we have coming up. Also, we hope to see our families tonight, May 12th at our Mental Health Fair from 5:30-7 PM.
Let's work together to create a safe, supportive school community where no one feels alone. 💬💪

In honor of Teacher's Appreciation Week, WJHS travelled the world since we have "THE BEST TEACHERS IN THE WORLD!" - which included travel to the Portuguese Azores. The Portuguese culture is thick here at WJHS which meant we were especially treated to an authentic meal brought to us by Ms. Bugarin and her family. To say it was delicious is an understatement...
"Obrigado por tudo que você faz!" ~ Thank you for all you do!

Teachers and staff landed in Italy yesterday for Teacher Appreciation Week, since we have "THE BEST TEACHERS IN THE WORLD"! Lunch included a Pasta Bar complete with marinara, alfredo, and pesto sauces.
"Grazie per tutto ciò che fai!" ~ Thank you for all you do!

The celebration continues for "THE BEST TEACHERS IN THE WORLD" at WJHS for Teacher Appreciation Week. Tuesday we traveled to England because our staff deserves royal treatment! Lunch was provided in the form of a Royal Charcuterie spread, and all went home with 'royal rations'.

This week we honor "THE BEST TEACHERS IN THE WORLD" at WJHS for Teacher Appreciation Week. Join us as we travel around the world with a new theme each day in celebration of our incredible staff! Monday we traveled to Mexico on Cinco de Mayo where the staff enjoyed fresh Pan Dulce treats. Additionally, students in Mrs. McGinnis' classes celebrated with Jarritos and a game of Loteria.
"Gracias por todo lo que haces!" ~ Thank you for all you do!

WJHS visited WHS last Friday to reward the 9th graders for their growth in SBAC testing as well as for exceeding Science standards . Students with up to 100 points growth received Kona Ice and those whose growth exceeded 100 points, received burrito vouchers from la Mexicana.
