Congratulations to our 8th graders for taking the win!
Consistent attendance is one of the strongest indicators of student success. When students show up every day, they build academic skills, strengthen relationships with peers and staff, and stay connected to their school community. Each day of learning adds up — missing even a few days can create gaps that are difficult to close.
We appreciate our families for partnering with us to ensure students arrive on time, ready to learn, and prepared to make the most of every opportunity.
Every day counts!

From academic guidance and social-emotional support to being a listening ear when students need it most, our counselors play a vital role in helping students succeed—both in and out of the classroom. We are truly grateful for all they do and the positive impact they make every single day!
Next week:

Feb. 13 & 16 - No School

Our campus was buzzing last week as students and staff came together for kindness, learning, and recognition.
We celebrated Kindness Week with "The Great Kindness Challenge", kicking off the week with an inspiring assembly featuring guest speaker Eddie Cortes, whose message focused on building student resilience and responsible AI use. A big THANK YOU to Mr. Kevin for spearheading the week and organizing a full schedule of lunchtime activities and dress-up days that kept students engaged and spreading kindness across campus
Students in Extended Science are studying the morphology and anatomy of Chinook salmon, which are currently being raised in the classroom. Soon these students will have the opportunity to release them locally so that they can continue their incredible journey. Last week, they had a special visit from Mr. Maloney, an Aquatic Biologist with TID, who guided students through a hands-on lesson where they practiced dissection skills and learned more about the morphology and anatomy of Perch.
PBIS lunchtime fun continued with a four square activity hosted by the Science Department, giving students another opportunity to connect and enjoy positive campus activities.
We also celebrated academic growth by recognizing students who improved by 200 or more points on the SBAC. These students earned a free Mile Pass and a special taco lunch, prepared by Mr. Duarte and his class, with fresh horchata made by Mrs. Rocio and Mrs. Carolina. Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible, and congratulations to our students on their hard work and phenomenal improvement!
Lastly, we took time to recognize our incredible Transportation Department. Wally and Theresa have truly been the heart of the department, working tirelessly to ensure our students get to and from school safely. We are grateful for their dedication and are happy to share that two additional bus drivers have been hired, allowing routes to resume as normal.
Happy February Families!

Next week is Kindness Week at WJHS! Students will be participating in this year’s Great Kindness Challenge with themed activities and opportunities to spread positivity across campus.
