Technology is already part of children’s everyday lives, from learning apps and videos to gaming, early social media exposure, and AI powered tools. Children are interacting with screens earlier than ever before.
While older students may use technology more independently, more than 90 percent of students are already engaging with AI in some form. The elementary years are a critical time to establish healthy habits around screen time, attention, and digital interactions that support learning, emotional development, and positive relationships.
This family and community conversation will help families better understand screen time, gaming, social media exposure, and emerging technologies like AI. Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools Scott Kuykendall will share how districts are addressing the impacts of screen time, and keynote speaker Eddie Cortes will offer insight into emerging challenges affecting student wellness and safety, along with practical strategies for building healthy digital habits early.
WUSD families and community members are encouraged to attend and be part of shaping responsible digital citizens from the very beginning.
